DIY Beauty: Charcoal Facial Scrub Mask

About a year ago I made a post about a homemade charcoal face wash, and I've loved using it!  However I prefer to use charcoal as a face mask (but I'm no longer a big fan of the mask I've made before), so I've been playing around with another recipe that combines the two!  The recipe is very simple, so let's get right to it!

To make two masks worth of this recipe you will need:
- 3 teaspoons of sugar
- 3 teaspoons of activated charcoal powder
- 3 teaspoons of Shea butter OR 1.5 teaspoons of Shea butter and 1.5 teaspoons of coconut oil

Combine sugar and charcoal in a bowl, and mix thoroughly.

Brown sugar can be used as a substitute for white sugar, but the granules may be too coarse to exfoliate delicate facial skin.

Add Shea butter (or Shea butter and coconut oil mixture) and mix until well combined.  These oils are great for moisturizing dry skin.

I'm aware of how creepy this looks, but it has great benefits for your face!

Use before showering for best results.  To use, wet hands (not face), and apply to dry or slightly damp face, rubbing in circular motion for 1-2 minutes.  Wetting your hands will prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands, as it will repel the butter and oil. After you have thoroughly exfoliated your face, wash the majority of the mixture off your face with water until the sugar has dissolved.  Take a warm shower to allow the butter/oil to thoroughly moisturize your face, then wash off with a deep cleansing facial wash.  Tone and moisturize your face as normal.  Use once weekly for best results.

And that's it!  Here I have made enough for one month's use.  If you do the same, store in a cool dark place and do not allow any moisture to get into the container.

If you try this, let me know how it works for you!

Cheers to healthy skin!
